Smith Residence
This water front pool concept came quite easily for this family of athletes. It was apparent that a lap pool complete with a tiled swim lane would be the best layout for this fitness minded family. The challenge was how to seamlessly blend the functionally of the lap pool to the existing outdoor kitchen area. The design solution was to incorporate a raised natural gas firepit and seating area to enhance the existing patio area. Artificial turf is used to accent the seating area around the firepit and distinguish the firepit area from the pool deck. A sunken spa and tanning ledge are positioned in the pool symmetrically with the new seating area. Silver travertine used on the pool coping and raised firepit offer a beautiful contrast to the navy subway tile and grey plaster. The pool itself, which runs the width of the house, is nearly 50’ in length. Deck jets on the back side of pool add just the right amount of elegance to this layout and string lighting help to polish of the seating area.
